SCHOLARSHIPS

Two scholarships, each to the value of $5,000, are offered each year to assist Stomal Therapy Nurses further their training and education. One has been fully funded by the support and sponsorship of the NSW Chamber of Fruit & Vegetables at Sydney Markets and the other has been funded directly by ONL. Full details for last year winners are in the 2010 Press Release.

In 2011, the NSW Chamber of Fruit & Vegetables has again generously donated $5,000 and the scholarship was shared equally by three STNs:

• Kerry Young – Hobartville
• Susan Morris – Charlestown
• Mary Cuzner – North Gosford

The second scholarship normally awarded by ONL, has been sponsored and funded by the Narwee Baptist Creative Craft Group whose donation provided funding for both 2011 and 2012. This was also awarded equally to three STNs:

• Nancy Andrawes - Banksia
• Lu Wang – Cabramatta
• Kerri Houghton – Mount Annan

The winners were selected by a panel of judges from the NSW Branch of the Australian Association of Stomal Therapy Nurses and were announced at the ONL Annual General Meeting held on Saturday, 19th November 2011. A ceremony for the presentation of cheques and certificates was held at the December meeting of the NSW Branch of the STNs Association. Full details are in the 2011 Press Release.

It is intended to again offer two separate scholarships in 2012. Terms and conditions and application forms will be published on the ONL website from around August 2012 and, subject to confirmation, it is expected that the closing date for applications will be around late September or early October.
